We hunt in the Northwest Region of Saskatchewan. This is the first
stop for migrating birds as they fatten up on peas, wheat, and
barley in the numerous grain fields on our hunting grounds. Our
hunting area has 3 national waterfowl sanctuaries, and the North
Saskatchewan River and numerous other potholes and sloughs, all
located within thirty minutes of the camp. Thousands upon thousands
of ducks and geese stage in our area on their journey south. It
is common to shoot a variety of waterfowl species each morning,
including Canada's, Speckled Bellies, Snows, Ross, Blues,
Mallards, Teal, and Pintails!
How We Hunt
Well, I guess it all begins with why we have such successful hunts.
The most important aspect of waterfowling is hunting where the
birds want to be. We have exclusive access to over 5,500 acres
of family owned land, along with permission to hunt on tens of
thousands of acres of local farmers' land. We have done all this
work for you to make sure we give you a successful hunt. Your hunt starts
with a light breakfast, then we will head out to a pre-scouted
grain field where the birds were feeding the night before. Using decoys
and blinds, your guide will call in birds so close that they sometimes
will land a few feet from the blind. After the morning hunt, we head
back to the lodge for breakfast and maybe a nap. In the afternoon, your
guide will take you duck hunting depending on how many ducks were shot
in the morning hunt. If we do hunt, it will either be at a pothole, slough
or in a grain field. There is nothing like shooting Waterfowl with Tracker
Outfitting in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Other Options
We have other hunting options should you limit out on waterfowl in the morning.
There is upland bird hunting for Sharp tail Grouse, Ruffed
Grouse, and the speedy Hungarian Partridge. (We
will direct you to the right area to try out your skills, but it's on
your own since the guides will be out patterning the birds' feeding fields
for the hunts in the days ahead.)
Also for those of you who have dreamed of hunting trophy black
bear, now is your chance!
We offer a great week-long black bear/waterfowl combination
hunt. This hunt depends on if you
get your bear tags reserved before they are all gone. So, book this
hunt at the beginning of the year.
Remember we only run 16 bear hunters a year, so we can give
a hunter a good chance of killing a Pope and Young Bear. We
do this to ensure that not too many bears are taken off the
area each year. This has paid off over the years since we have
so many bears (BIG Bears), and We
still boast a 100% opportunity for all hunters to harvest a
bear. No hunter has ever gone home without a chance to take
a bear here at Tracker Outfitting.
