Black Bear Hunt
Location

Our bear hunting area is situated in the Big River Region, two and a half hours north of Saskatoon on both private and public land, which consist of coniferous and aspen forest mixed with numerous lakes, swamps, and some ranch land. Bordering our area to the east is the famous Prince Albert National Park, which hosts a high bear population. We have a good area for colored-phase bears, with chocolate, cinnamon, and blonde colored animals. Success on these colored bears has varied from 20% to 45% from year to year. To ensure that our area is properly managed and not over hunted, we only guide a maximum of 16 hunters per year.
We boast a 100% opportunity track record, no one has ever gone home without the chance to kill a bear
How We Hunt

Our spring bear hunt takes place in the month of May. Hunters arrive in camp on Sunday, hunt Monday through Friday, and depart on Saturday. Our fall bear hunts take place the first two weeks in September. Our combo Bear and Waterfowl hunt takes place the 2nd week and 3rd week in September, if we still have bear tags left. So you must book now to reserve your tag for the Fall Bear Hunts.

Due to the dense forest covered areas, baiting is the most effective method of hunting bears in Saskatchwan. We normally hunt using several styles of tree stands, averaging 11-14 feet high. The average shot range can vary from 10-25 yards. It is important to practice this type of shooring angle at home for effective shot placement. If you choose to, we can construct a ground blind with prior notice.

After The Kill

After you kill your bear, there are other things to keep you busy. Spring is undoubtedly the best time of the year for Northern Pike fishing on Cowan Lake. It is not uncommon to catch 20 or 30 Pike in a couple hours. The best part is a fish fry of fresh pike, cooked over the fire pit. Or you can try your marksmanship on pesky Gophers, relatives of Prairie Dogs, which provides non-stop shooting and will keep you and your hunting buddies laughing all day.
